Nearly 26,000 truck drivers were held liable for traffic violations in Almaty from January to October 2026. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the police department, license plates were seized from 222 drivers, and 86 vehicles were taken to an impound lot.
A total of 48,958 trucks are registered in the city. As part of the "Taza Qazaqstan" initiative, police have tightened control over freight transport. They check documents, the technical condition of vehicles, license plates, and compliance with environmental standards.
"Technical malfunctions, exceeding emission standards, and violations of operating rules directly affect the city's ecology," explained Darkhan Kylyshpayev, deputy head of the Almaty Administrative Police Department.
Earlier, Kursiv Auto reported that 6,833 vehicles were checked at Almaty checkpoints in September. Exceeding emission standards was detected in 922 vehicles — approximately every seventh of those checked. After adjusting the fuel system, 561 vehicles passed a re-inspection.
