Rescuers have localized a fire in the mountainous area of the Almaty region. The area of the blaze was 13 hectares, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Dry vegetation caught fire in the Enbekshikazakh district, near the village of Kainazar. Firefighting was complicated by steep slopes, difficult terrain and the absence of access roads to the fire sources.
An MChS helicopter was involved in fighting the fire. It carried out 18 water drops with a total volume of 54 tonnes.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that more than 50 people and 16 units of equipment from the Almaty region's Emergency Situations Department, forestry and local executive bodies took part in the extinguishing effort.
There is no threat to settlements. No information about victims has been received. Work at the site continues.
