The akimat of Almaty Region reported that restoration of an emergency bridge in Turgen has begun. The bridge collapsed when the river overflowed due to heavy rains several weeks ago. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
It turned out that the bridge had been declared emergency back in 2024. Construction work is planned to be completed within three months. Today, Akim of Almaty Region Marat Sultangaziyev specially visited the site and familiarized himself with the progress of construction.
Currently, four units of equipment are involved at the site, and more than ten specialists are performing the work. Bridge construction began a week ago. Dismantling work is fully completed, and preparation for drilling work is underway. According to the contractor, the facility is planned to be fully commissioned in November.
"This bridge is important for both residents and tourists. Therefore, special attention must be paid to the quality of work and compliance with construction deadlines. All technical requirements must be strictly followed at every stage of the project implementation," the head of the region emphasized.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that due to mudflows, the Turgen River flooded the road to the Assy plateau in the Enbekshikazakh district of Almaty Region. Rescuers evacuated 42 people, including three children, from the Turgen Gorge in this area.
