Participants of a mountain hike from Belarus discovered the body of a deceased climber on the Severtsev glacier in the Almaty region, at an altitude of about 3,400 meters.
This was reported by a resident of Almaty on Facebook. According to her, on August 16, friends returned from a two-week trek through the mountains of Kazakhstan. They reported the terrible find to rescuers and sent coordinates, photos, and videos to service 109 via WhatsApp.
She claims that the body may have been in the mountains for a long time. According to her, this summer at least two tourist groups passed by the place where the remains were located.
Rescue operation
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan reported that the body of the deceased was evacuated using a helicopter of Kazaviaspas JSC from a hard-to-reach mountain area.
"After evacuation, the body was handed over to the staff of the investigative-operational group of the Almaty region to establish the identity of the deceased and clarify the circumstances of the incident," the ministry said.
