The amount of taxes paid by legal gambling entities in the Almaty region has been published. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In the first six months of this year, the gambling business in the region contributed 25 billion tenge in taxes to the state budget. Of this, 10.6 billion tenge was transferred to the regional budget.
"Over the last two and a half years, the industry has paid a total of 184.7 billion tenge in taxes to the state budget. Of this, 53.8 billion tenge was directed to regional budget revenues," the official statement said.
It is noteworthy that currently 21 gambling facilities operate in the city of Konayev. These include 5 casinos, 13 bookmaker offices, and 3 slot machine halls. The industry employs approximately 2,500 people.
The gambling business also has a positive impact on the region's tourism. According to the Tourism Department of the Almaty region, about 20% of visitors to local casinos are foreign citizens.
