A fire at an unauthorized landfill has been localized in the Talgar district of the Almaty region. The garbage caught fire on the territory of an abandoned quarry near the village of Baiterek, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
A firefighting headquarters was organized at the scene and an uninterrupted water supply was ensured. Two monitor nozzles are being used to extinguish the fire.
"With the involvement of special equipment, work is underway to recultivate the territory and fill the combustion sources with soil," the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and forces of local executive bodies are participating in extinguishing the fire. The fire has been localized, and work to fully extinguish it continues.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that a fire broke out at a plant in Kentau.
