Doctors from the maxillofacial surgery department of the Almaty Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital removed a giant tumor in the submandibular area from a patient who had lived with the tumor for over 10 years. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The patient complained of a large mass in the neck area, pain, difficulty breathing, and sleep disturbances. After examination, an urgent surgery was decided upon.
Surgeons removed the tumor along with the submandibular salivary gland. Despite the complexity, the surgery went without complications, and vital structures were not damaged, the press service of the Almaty Multidisciplinary Clinical Hospital reported.
After the operation, the patient's condition significantly improved, and breathing was fully restored. All medical care was provided under the compulsory social health insurance (CSHI) system.
According to specialists, ignoring such symptoms for a long time can lead to severe complications. Therefore, they advise timely consultation with a doctor if any mass appears in the head and neck area.
