The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan has released exact figures on the number of evacuated tourists from recreation areas in the Turgen Gorge (Almaty Region), where heavy rains caused a sharp rise in the river level. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the Ministry, the strong current washed away sections of the Turgen-Asy highway. The flood zone included the "Turgensai" resort area — water entered the territory where 17 yurts are located, and also flooded four household plots in the "Vodnik" gardening community.

Rescuers had to urgently evacuate people to a safe place. A total of 58 people were evacuated from the emergency zone, including 21 children and 8 foreign nationals.

"The evacuees were placed in the Ministry's shift vehicle, where they were provided with necessary conditions for temporary stay. There are no casualties," the Ministry emphasized.

Currently, specialists from Kazselezashchita and the Emergency Department of Almaty Region are working around the clock at the scene in the Enbekshikazakh district. Emergency restoration work is underway. A total of about 300 personnel and 44 units of equipment are involved in eliminating the consequences. At the same time, rescuers eliminated the consequences of flooding in the Karasai district, where there were also no casualties.

Against the backdrop of the flood in the region, Ministry units switched to an enhanced round-the-clock monitoring regime for mudflow-prone areas directly within Almaty.

Currently, the hydrological situation in the metropolis itself is assessed as stable, no critical rise in water levels in urban rivers has been recorded.

"As part of preventive measures, the Ministry and local executive bodies have completed work to strengthen and clear the bed of the Aksai River in the area of the protective dam. Thanks to the measures taken, the water level has significantly decreased," the Ministry reported.
