In Almaty Region, officials have been convicted for helping an individual entrepreneur evade taxes. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
During a desk audit, the fact of understating the entrepreneur's income was revealed, and a notice to eliminate violations was sent. While resolving this issue, officials of the state revenue department, using their official powers, demanded an illegal remuneration of 5 million tenge from the entrepreneur's representative for not applying account blocking sanctions and withdrawing the notice.
Subsequently, with the mediation of another department head, the parties reached an agreement, and the bribe was replaced with two "iPhone 17 Pro" mobile phones worth a total of 1.5 million tenge. After receiving the bribe, the officials unreasonably recognized the tax notice as fulfilled.
By the court verdict, the head of the department was fined 52 million tenge, the head of the division 52.5 million tenge, and the intermediary 15 million tenge. They are permanently deprived of the right to hold positions in public service, local government bodies, the National Bank, and the quasi-public sector. The verdict has entered into legal force.
