In Abai village, Karsasai district, Almaty region, a car struck two teenagers sitting by the roadside. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Two teenagers, carelessly eating ice cream by the road, were hit by a passenger car at full speed. Turan Atantayev was the first to help the children.
"I was doing chores at the entrance when I heard a loud impact and screaming. I immediately called an ambulance and put pillows under their heads. The children were in severe pain," he says.
The driver fled
But Turan Atantayev did not see the car. An elderly man passing by managed to memorize the car's license plate.
"The elderly neighbor said 'the car fled.' He barely dictated the secret code on his phone, I unlocked it and notified their mothers," says Turan Atantayev.
Found two days later
One of the two injured children is the son of Akhmet Omirzak, a writer and journalist actively working in the field of Kazakh journalism and literature.
"My youngest son, born when I was 45. My son's current condition is stable, he can drink water. The car ran over him with both wheels. He was found only two days after the incident. But I had no chance to talk," says Akhmet Omirzak.
"Grandfather, help!"
In the video recording, one can hear the children desperately shouting "grandfather, help!".
"How can one forgive a person who hit children and fled the scene? The car ran over the children, stopped by pressing the brake, and then fled. Whether he was drunk or fell asleep, we did not understand the driver's actions," says Akhmet Omirzak.
Our child needs to be transferred to a city hospital
The road where the incident occurred is narrow, and driving at high speed is impossible. At 100 meters on the road, there is an artificial obstacle and an intersection.
"Why did he drive at such speed. Whether he was drunk or a malicious person, who knows. The central hospital of Kaskelen is closed for repairs, located in Ushkonyr village. We thought he would be transferred to the city, because the children's condition is still not good. My son is registered in the city, but since the incident occurred in the region, they are not admitting him to the city. We are now running around with this problem," says the father of the injured child.
Police reported that the driver was detained and placed in a pretrial detention center.
Recall that on October 3, a car struck two teenagers born in 2012 and 2014. The children were carelessly eating ice cream by the roadside.
