A fire broke out at an unauthorized landfill near Koksay village in Karasay district, Almaty region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations, an operational headquarters was deployed at the site to coordinate firefighting efforts. Rescuers organized an uninterrupted water supply and brought in special equipment to extinguish the fire.
"The main forces are focused on preventing the further spread of the fire," the ministry's statement said.
The fire has been localized. Work to fully extinguish it continues.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that two people were injured as a result of a gas truck explosion in Semey.
