In the Almaty region, a PSC employee hit a person with a service car, and the pedestrian died. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The incident occurred on August 11. In response to a request from Sputnik Kazakhstan, the state corporation "Government for Citizens" provided an official response.

"The state corporation confirms that the accident occurred while an employee of the branch was driving a service vehicle," the corporation said. After the incident, the state corporation conducted an internal investigation.

Based on the results of the internal investigation, officials were brought to disciplinary responsibility.

"The deputy director of the branch for general affairs did not maintain control over the service vehicle. He was brought to disciplinary responsibility for incomplete and non-objective provision of official information," the state corporation "Government for Citizens" said.

The branch director was also held accountable.

"He did not properly exercise leadership and control over the branch's activities. He did not organize the internal control system at the required level. He also did not ensure the preservation and intended use of property," the corporation said.

The state corporation expresses condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased, the department said.

In this regard, the police department of the Almaty region opened a criminal case.

"At approximately 20:00, on the Almaty – Shelek – Korgas – Baiset highway, the driver of a Kia Sorento hit a 77-year-old woman. The driver, 26, who fled the scene, was detained and taken into custody," police said.

As a result of the incident, the pedestrian died. Currently, an investigation is underway.
