The Kapshagay reservoir in the Almaty region will host the international "Formula 1 H2O" races for the next 5 years. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The project is not limited to organizing competitions on water. A plant for producing boats is planned to be built in the region. An academy for training pilots who operate watercraft will also be opened. A national team will be formed to defend the country's honor in the water Formula 1 races.
Akim of the Almaty region Marat Sultangaziev met with the organizers of the "F1H2O" races and discussed issues of holding the international event at a high level. He noted that holding international competitions such as "Formula 1 H2O" will further enhance the country's reputation on the world stage.
"The regional akimat will provide full support for this initiative. Together with the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Kazakhstan, we will make efforts to implement the competition as an important national project for our country," said the head of the region.
A representative of H2O Racing, Raimondo di San Germano, said that Kazakhstan is the most suitable country for holding these competitions.
