In the village of Abai in the Almaty region, a Chevrolet Cobalt driver hit two schoolchildren sitting on the roadside and fled the scene of the accident. Police later detained a 65-year-old suspect. Children aged 12 and 13 were sitting near a store and eating when a car hit them. After the collision, the driver continued driving without stopping.
The victims were taken to a district hospital with injuries. Both underwent surgery. According to the health department, one child has already been transferred to the surgical department. The second continues treatment in the anesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive care department. Doctors assess his condition as serious.
The suspected perpetrator of the accident was found and placed in a temporary detention center. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the collision.
