The 'Sky of Baiserke – 2026' aviation festival has started in the Ili district of the Almaty region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Flights over the airfield, an exhibition of aircraft, and meetings with pilots opened the aviation festival. The event also brought together industry experts to discuss the development of small aviation in the region.

In particular, at a press conference held as part of the festival, issues of attracting young people to technical specialties, forming aviation culture, and increasing the tourism potential of the Almaty region were discussed.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Board of JSC 'SP 'Baiterek', pilot-cosmonaut Aydin Aimbetov, head of the 'Otan' aeroclub Yuri Yeltsov, General Director of the 'Tian Shan' aviation center Vladimir Antsupov, and President of the Kazakhstan Small Aviation Association Omirbek Kenesbayev.

Experts noted that aviation should not be limited to the professional sphere and that it is important to increase children's interest in professions such as pilots, engineers, and technicians.

'Seeing aviation equipment with their own eyes and communicating with professionals, young people can determine their future professional direction,' the speakers believe.

After the press conference, the main program of the aviation festival began. Guests of the holiday saw spectacular flights of aircraft, an open-air exhibition of equipment, and were able to personally communicate with specialists about the features of aviation professions.

According to the festival organizers, combining aviation and tourism could increase interest in the region.

'In this context, the festival is seen not only as a demonstration of aviation equipment, but also as a platform for presenting the region's tourist attractions from a new perspective,' the statement said.
