In the village of Sarybulak, Enbekshikazakh district, Almaty region, about 200 students will start the school year in a dormitory building. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Because there is no purpose-built school for students, and there never was. A Sputnik Kazakhstan correspondent found out about the current situation of Sarybulak schoolchildren.
This building, originally built as a dormitory, was founded in 1933. The educational institution is the main problem that worries the villagers. Every year, schoolchildren who dream of a new school will again study in the dormitory building this year. The building, built 93 years ago, is worn out. It is cold in winter and stuffy in summer.
The school has no gym, and never had. Students exercise in an old classroom of the small building. The roof of the building is worn out, window frames are rotten. And in the canteen there is no hot food; 80 students a day snack on dry food.
"I would cook a variety of food, but there is no opportunity. There is no gas, no conditions have been created for the canteen," says cook Aigul Abdraimova.
This year, 205 students will study at the school.
"There are two classes in the first grade, the number of students is not decreasing. The design and estimate documentation for the new school is ready, now we are waiting for funding. We, the village elders, school teachers, have signed, now we are waiting. The main thing is that we are doing our job to the best of our ability," says Madina Askarova, director of Sarybulak secondary school.
Despite studying in a dormitory, Sarybulak schoolchildren achieve success. This year, 70% of graduates received grants to universities.
A Sputnik Kazakhstan correspondent also asked the head of the Enbekshikazakh district education department about the new school problem. No official information has been provided yet.
It should be noted that on August 5 last year, the Enbekshikazakh district education department reported that the Sarybulak school would undergo major repairs next year. A new school being built throughout the village will also be built in Sarybulak; this is one of the pressing issues in the plan.
