A young man in Almaty has been arrested for five days for making an inappropriate joke in the metro. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
During an inspection at the Raiymbek station, the young man told a security officer that his bag contained a dangerous item. The information was immediately reported to the police. Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and thoroughly checked the area. However, no dangerous or prohibited items were found.
The 22-year-old resident admitted that he said it as a joke. However, such 'jokes' can have serious consequences. By a ruling of the specialized inter-district court for administrative offenses of Almaty, the offender was brought to administrative responsibility and arrested for five days, police representatives said.
Under the law, all such reports are subject to mandatory verification. Criminal liability is provided for knowingly providing false information.
