Air Astana will launch direct flights between Almaty and Tokyo, the company's press service reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The first flight from Almaty will operate on November 30, 2026, and the first return flight from Tokyo will operate on December 1, 2026.

Flights will be operated to Tokyo International Airport (Narita) twice a week on Airbus A321LR aircraft equipped with business and economy class cabins.

Flight schedule

Schedule (local time, subject to government approval):

  • 01Flight KC171 Almaty–Tokyo will operate on Mondays and Thursdays, departing Almaty at 21:55 and arriving in Tokyo at 09:25 the next day.
  • 02Flight KC172 Tokyo–Almaty will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays, departing Tokyo at 10:55 and arriving in Almaty at 16:20.

The flight from Almaty to Tokyo takes 7 hours 30 minutes, while the return flight takes 9 hours 25 minutes.

Ticket prices

The minimum price for a round-trip economy class ticket (including all taxes) starts from 350,552 tenge, while business class starts from 1,398,918 tenge.

Visa regime

Japanese citizens can enter Kazakhstan visa-free for up to 30 days. Kazakh citizens must obtain a visa to travel to Japan.
