According to weather forecasters, NMU are predicted in Almaty and Uralsk, and at night — in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Aktobe, Atyrau, Petropavlovsk, Kostanay and Astana.
What are unfavorable meteorological conditions?
Unfavorable meteorological conditions occur during calm, weak wind, fog and temperature inversion. In such weather, pollutants can accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, worsening air quality.
The level of pollution is also affected by precipitation, humidity and air temperature. During NMU periods, people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases should especially carefully monitor their well-being.
Recommendations for residents
Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near busy roads and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women should better avoid long walks.
People with chronic diseases and allergies are advised to keep necessary medications with them. Outdoor sports should be moved indoors if possible.
