Unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty and three other cities in Kazakhstan on October 25. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to Kazhydromet, unfavorable meteorological conditions (NMU) are forecast in Aktobe, Almaty, Karaganda and Temirtau.
What are unfavorable meteorological conditions?
Unfavorable meteorological conditions arise from a combination of calm, weak wind, fog and temperature inversion. In such weather, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to a deterioration in air quality.
During these periods, the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases. Air pollution levels are also affected by wind speed, precipitation, humidity and air temperature.
Recommendations for residents
Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.
People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as allergy sufferers, are advised to carry necessary medications. Outdoor physical activity should be limited, and workouts should be moved indoors where possible.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that according to Kazhydromet forecasts, night frosts are expected in five regions of Kazakhstan on October 25. The coldest weather will be in Zhetysu, while dust storms are forecast in the west and south of the country. In some areas, wind will intensify to 28 meters per second.
