Unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty and five other cities in Kazakhstan on October 17. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to weather forecasters, NMU are predicted in Almaty and Aktobe, and at night in Kostanay, Karaganda, Temirtau and Astana.
As specialists explain, unfavorable weather conditions arise from a combination of calm, weak wind, fog and temperature inversion. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to a deterioration in air quality.
Weather forecasters warn that during such periods the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.
Air pollution levels are influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity and air temperature.
Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.
People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as allergy sufferers, are advised to carry necessary medications. Specialists recommend limiting physical activity outdoors and, where possible, moving classes indoors.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that storm warnings for October 17 were announced in 17 regions of Kazakhstan. Weather forecasters predict snow, ice, dust storms and strong wind. At night in the Zhetisu region, the temperature will drop to −8 degrees, according to the Kazhydromet forecast.
