On October 10, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty and six other cities of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to forecasters from Kazhydromet, unfavorable meteorological conditions (NMU) are predicted in Almaty, Astana, Atyrau, Aktobe, Temirtau and Karaganda, and at night in Zhezkazgan.
What are unfavorable meteorological conditions
As specialists explain, unfavorable weather conditions arise from a combination of calm, weak wind, fog and temperature inversion. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to a deterioration in air quality.
Forecasters warn that during such periods the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.
Factors affecting the level of air pollution
The level of air pollution is influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity and air temperature.
Recommendations for residents
Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.
People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as those with allergies, are advised to carry necessary medications. Specialists recommend limiting physical activity outdoors and, if possible, moving classes indoors.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that fog, strong wind and fire danger are forecast in Astana and 14 regions of Kazakhstan on Saturday, October 10.
