On August 18, unfavorable meteorological conditions (NMC) are expected in Almaty and Atyrau, Kazhydromet reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to weather forecasters, NMC are predicted in Almaty, and at night - in Atyrau.

As experts explained, unfavorable meteorological conditions occur when calm, weak wind, fog and temperature inversion combine. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, leading to deterioration of air quality.

Forecasters warn that during such periods the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.

The level of air pollution is influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity and air temperature.

Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near highways and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.

People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as allergy sufferers, are advised to carry necessary medications with them. Experts advise limiting outdoor physical activity and, if possible, moving classes indoors.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that on August 18, unstable weather is expected in most regions of Kazakhstan. Kazhydromet forecasts rain and thunderstorms, and in some places hail and squalls.
