Unfavorable meteorological conditions (NMC) are expected in Almaty and Atyrau on July 16, Kazhydromet reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to weather forecasters, NMC are predicted in Almaty during the day and in Atyrau at night. Such conditions occur with a combination of calm, light wind, fog, or temperature inversion, contributing to the accumulation of pollutants in the surface air layer.

In Almaty, partly cloudy weather with no precipitation is expected. Wind will be southeast shifting to southwest, 3-8 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will be +22…+24°C, daytime +36…+38°C.

In Atyrau, partly cloudy weather is forecast, with possible light rain and thunderstorms during the day. Northwest wind will shift to southwest, with speeds of 2-7 m/s at night and 9-14 m/s during the day. Nighttime temperatures will be +23…+25°C, daytime +33…+35°C.

Earlier, Kursiv reported on a study linking exposure to ultrafine particles in polluted air to approximately 2 million premature deaths annually, about half of which are due to cardiovascular diseases. Scientists noted that such particles can penetrate from the lungs into the bloodstream, increasing the risk of vascular damage, heart attack, and stroke.

During NMC, residents are advised to close windows, limit outdoor activities, and wear masks if necessary. Poor air quality is especially dangerous for people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. Kazhydromet continues to monitor the situation.
