On June 16, adverse meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty and Astana, according to Kazhydromet. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to forecasters, adverse weather conditions are predicted in Almaty and at night in Astana.
Experts explained that adverse meteorological conditions occur when calm, light wind, fog, and temperature inversion combine. Under such conditions, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to poor air quality.
The level of pollution is also affected by wind speed, precipitation, humidity, and air temperature.
Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other emission sources.
Children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with respiratory, cardiovascular diseases, or allergies are advised to limit long walks and carry necessary medications.
If air quality worsens, outdoor physical activity should be reduced or moved indoors.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that on June 16, several regions of Kazakhstan are expected to experience extreme heat, thunderstorms, hail, and squally winds. According to Kazhydromet, high and extreme fire danger persists in most regions.
