Unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty and Aktobe on September 13. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to Kazhydromet, such conditions may contribute to the accumulation of pollutants in the surface layer of the air. These include calm weather, weak wind, fog and temperature inversion.

Recommendations for residents

Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors where possible, especially near roads and other sources of pollution.

People with chronic lung diseases, cardiovascular conditions and allergies are advised to carry necessary medications when going outside.

Storm warning

Earlier, Kursiv reported that a storm warning was issued in all regions of Kazakhstan on September 13. Forecasters predicted heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, squally wind and fog, while high and extreme fire danger persisted in a number of regions.

In Almaty, short-term rain and thunderstorms were expected in the Ile Alatau mountains, wind gusts up to 15-20 m/s and high fire danger. In Aktobe region, wind up to 15-18 m/s was forecast, while extreme fire danger persisted across most of the region.
