The search continues in the mountains of Almaty for a foreign citizen born in 1953 who decided to descend from Shymbulak on his own on September 28 and did not return to his hotel. About 50 people, a helicopter and seven drones are involved in the search and rescue operation, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The search is being conducted in the area of the Talgar Pass at an altitude of about 3,200 meters. According to the ministry, the man went up on the Shymbulak cable car as part of a group, after which he told colleagues that he would continue the route alone and descend to the city without an escort.

A report of his disappearance was received by the 112 emergency line on September 29. On the same day, the Ministry of Emergency Situations organized search and rescue work. The Almaty Emergency Situations Department set up an operational headquarters.

The search involves employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the city Center for Monitoring and Operational Response, rescuers of the Barys RSS, police officers, canine units and volunteers of the DSS. In total, eight units of equipment, seven UAVs, three canine units and a Kazaviaspas helicopter are being used.

The helicopter crew surveyed mountain routes in the area of Left Talgar, the Bogdanovich Glacier and adjacent gorges in the direction of peaks and passes. On foot groups, supported by drones, are checking hard-to-reach areas and mountain trails.

Rescuers are also continuing to review video surveillance camera footage and interview tourists who were in the search area.

The work is being carried out around the clock, taking into account the difficult terrain, altitude and inaccessibility of certain areas.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that in the Ayusai Gorge in the mountains of Almaty, after more than a day of searching, a boy born in 2015 who went missing during a walk with his parents was found. He was discovered above the waterfall at an altitude of about 2,000 meters and handed over to his family. About 160 people took part in the search operation.
