According to the Almaty Public Health Department, as of August 13, a total of 7 cremation ceremonies have been conducted since the crematorium opened. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Since the official opening of the crematorium in Almaty on April 30, the city's pathological-anatomical bureau has received more than 40 applications from relatives of the deceased regarding cremation. Among the applicants are both citizens of Kazakhstan and foreign citizens.
In particular, applications were received regarding citizens of China — 3, Great Britain — 1, Russia — 2, and Uzbekistan — 1.
After cremation, the ashes of the deceased were handed over to relatives. If necessary, the urn with ashes can be temporarily stored at the crematorium for up to one year.
It should be noted that cremation is only possible if the deceased person has expressed documented will. In the absence of such a document, cremation is not carried out.
For foreign citizens, there are no specific restrictions when receiving cremation services. They can use the service on a general basis when there are no obstacles provided by law, including those related to criminal investigations.
For residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the cost of cremation services corresponds to the standard tariff for citizens of Kazakhstan. No additional surcharges or increasing coefficients are provided for foreign citizens.
Recall that on April 30 this year, the first crematorium was opened in Almaty.
