Canadian lynxes have appeared at Almaty Zoo, the city administration reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The zoo added a pair of new inhabitants as part of an international animal exchange program. The lynxes arrived from the USA.

After mandatory quarantine and veterinary observation, the animals successfully adapted. Visitors can now see them at the zoo.

The male is three years old, the female is seven years old. The animals were placed on the "leopard circle" — a complex of enclosures for small predators.

A spacious enclosure with shelter, air conditioning, and a fogging system was equipped for the Canadian lynxes.

Zoo specialists hope that the new pair will settle in successfully and produce offspring in the future. The city administration noted that this will contribute to the conservation of the species.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that several rare animals at Almaty Zoo gave birth to babies — white-handed gibbons and ring-tailed lemurs had offspring.
