Unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty and two other cities in Kazakhstan on 22 October, Kazhydromet reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to weather forecasters, unfavorable meteorological conditions (NMU) are predicted in Aktobe, Atyrau and Almaty.

Unfavorable weather conditions arise from a combination of calm, light wind, fog and temperature inversion. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to a deterioration in air quality.

During such periods, the risk of negative health effects from polluted air increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.

Air pollution levels are influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity and air temperature.

Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.

People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as allergy sufferers, are advised to carry necessary medications. Outdoor physical activity should be limited and, where possible, moved indoors.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that heavy snow, blizzards, ice and wind gusts up to 28 m/s are expected in certain regions of Kazakhstan on 22 October. Frosts and a dust storm are forecast in the south, while high or extreme fire danger persists in several regions, Kazhydromet reported.
