Unfavorable meteorological conditions contributing to the accumulation of pollutants in the air are expected in five cities of Kazakhstan on October 11. According to the forecast of Kazhydromet, the warning applies to Uralsk, Almaty, Astana, Atyrau and Aktobe. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

What are unfavorable meteorological conditions

Unfavorable meteorological conditions arise from a combination of calm, weak wind, fog or temperature inversion. Under such conditions, pollutants disperse poorly and accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere.

The level of pollution is also affected by precipitation, humidity and temperature. At the same time, the NMU forecast warns of the risk of deterioration in air quality, but does not confirm exceedance of permissible concentrations of harmful substances.

Recommendations during unfavorable meteorological conditions

During unfavorable meteorological conditions, it is recommended to:

  • 01Avoid prolonged exposure to open air;
  • 02Close windows and doors;
  • 03Use air purifiers;
  • 04Reduce the use of vehicles;
  • 05Limit physical activity.

These measures are aimed at reducing the impact of pollutants.

Storm warnings in other regions

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that on October 11, storm warnings were announced in 14 regions of Kazakhstan due to fog, strong wind and high fire danger. In the area of Alakol lakes, wind gusts can reach 17-22 m/s.

Thus, unfavorable weather conditions are observed in a number of regions of the country, which requires the population to take precautions.
