Air pollution is expected in six cities of Kazakhstan on July 18. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to weather forecasters, unfavorable meteorological conditions (NMC) are predicted in Almaty, as well as at night in Astana, Petropavlovsk, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan and Temirtau.

As experts explained, unfavorable meteorological conditions occur when calm, light wind, fog and temperature inversion combine. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, leading to deterioration of air quality.

Forecasters warn that during such periods the risk of negative health effects from polluted air increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.

The level of atmospheric pollution is also affected by wind speed, precipitation, humidity and air temperature.

Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near highways and other sources of pollution. Children, the elderly and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.

People with respiratory diseases, cardiovascular diseases and allergies are recommended to carry necessary medications with them. Physical activity outdoors should be moved indoors if possible.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that Kazhydromet issued a storm warning for July 18 for 16 regions of Kazakhstan and Astana. In a number of regions, extreme heat up to +45 degrees, thunderstorms, hail, squally wind, dust storms and extreme fire danger are forecast.
