Almaty airport reported that due to the completion of the arch reconstruction, the main entrance from Mailin Street is now open for traffic in both directions — for entry and exit. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
From Mailin Street, 11 lanes are available for entering and exiting the forecourt: 4 for entry and 7 for exit.
At the same time, two entrances located near the Aksunkar Hotel are now used only for passage to the second floor, to the departure areas of terminals T1 and T2.
For users of the covered parking complex, a direct exit to Zakarpatskaya Street is also provided.
"The airport recommends passengers and visitors to take into account the changes when planning their route and follow road signs on the airport territory. The updated traffic scheme will allow a more convenient distribution of traffic flows and improve access to terminals and parking infrastructure of the airport," the airport's statement says.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that Almaty airport will be able to serve up to 55 million passengers per year.
Features of the new traffic scheme
The new scheme provides that 4 lanes for entry from Mailin Street provide direct access to the forecourt. These lanes allow passengers to quickly reach the terminals. 7 lanes for exit, in turn, facilitate exit from the square to the city.
The entrances near the Aksunkar Hotel are now intended only for passage to the second floor, to the departure areas of terminals T1 and T2. This change is aimed at separating passenger flows and speeding up access to the terminals.
The exit from the covered parking complex now leads directly to Zakarpatskaya Street, which greatly simplifies leaving the parking lot.
Airport recommendations
The airport administration recommends passengers and visitors to plan their route in advance and pay attention to information signs on the airport territory. The updated scheme will help optimize traffic flows and improve access to terminals and parking infrastructure.
These changes are being implemented as part of the airport infrastructure modernization. Almaty airport's ability to serve up to 55 million passengers per year strengthens its role as a major hub in the region.
