Japanese actor Nijiro Murakami, known for his role in the popular Netflix series 'Alice in Borderland', has come under investigation following allegations of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to The Express Tribune, the incidents occurred between March and May 2024 in the actor's apartment in Tokyo's Shibuya district. The woman claimed that during this time, she was subjected to violence by Murakami four times.
She stated that the actor beat her, pulled her hair, and hit her head against a window several times. The injuries reportedly required more than a month to heal.
The investigation was initially conducted by the Harajuku district police, after which the case materials were forwarded to the prosecutor's office for further proceedings.
According to local media, during the investigation, Murakami admitted to causing injuries to his ex-girlfriend. "There is no doubt that I caused her injuries," Japanese press quoted him as saying.
Nijiro Murakami gained international fame for his role in the Netflix series 'Alice in Borderland', which aired from 2020 to 2026. He is also set to appear in a new project, 'Junji Ito's Strange Stories That Keep You Awake at Night', premiering on July 3.
It is not yet known whether the investigation will affect the project's release or the actor's involvement in its promotion. The final decision on filing official charges will be made by the prosecutor's office.
