Kazakh boxer Zhanibek Alimkhanuly has chosen the venue for his championship title fight. He has asked his promoters to organize the bout at the famous Madison Square Garden arena in New York (USA). This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
"If my promoter Top Rank and Bob Arum organize the fight, I would like to perform in New York, because I have many fans from Kazakhstan there," Alimkhanuly wrote on the social network X.
According to media reports, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) initially ordered British boxer Hamza Sheeraz to defend his super middleweight title in a fight against Alimkhanuly.
The promotional bidding was won by Queensberry with a bid of more than 1 million dollars, but Sheeraz voluntarily vacated the belt and refused the fight.
As a result, the WBO has ordered Alimkhanuly to fight for the vacant title against Denmark's Jacob Bank, with the parties obliged to reach an agreement by October 7 of this year.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that the current WBC middleweight world champion, Dominican Carlos Adames, called out Kazakh boxer Zhanibek Alimkhanuly for a fight.
