Kazakh cyclist Alexey Lutsenko won the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. He won the men's individual time trial. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Lutsenko covered the distance in 41 minutes 24.05 seconds. Japanese rider Shunsuke Imamura took second place with 42:58.04. He lost to Lutsenko by 1 minute 33.99 seconds. Mongolian rider Jambaljamts Sainbayar won bronze with 42:58.06, losing to the winner by 1 minute 34.01 seconds.

For Lutsenko, this is already his fifth Asian Games gold in his career. Before the tournament in Japan, he had become Asian Games champion four times: he won the individual race in 2014, took two golds in 2018 – in the time trial and road race, and then again won the individual time trial at the 2022 Games in Hangzhou.
Lutsenko's victory became Kazakhstan's second gold at the 2026 Asian Games. Earlier today, Rinata Sultanova also won the individual time trial.
Kazakhstan's first medal at the Games was brought by triathlete Arlan Zhanabay. He took third place in the triathlon.
The XX Summer Asian Games in Japan officially opened yesterday, September 19. In the multi-sport event featuring athletes from 45 countries, 460 sets of medals will be awarded. 217 – among men, 204 – among women and 39 – in mixed categories. Tournaments will be held in 68 disciplines of 41 sports. Kazakhstan's national team at the 2026 Asian Games will include 559 athletes.
