Russian figure skater Alexandra Ignatova (Trusova) has shared footage from Almaty with her followers. The athlete came to Kazakhstan together with her young son and, between performances, is finding time to get to know the city. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Posts on Threads and Telegram

Ignatova published several photos from her walks on her Threads and Telegram channel. In one of them, the skater is resting on a swing at the Terrenkur playground, just across the road from the hotel where she is staying. The athlete admitted that the weather in Almaty pleasantly surprised her.

On Threads she wrote: “The non-obvious plus of motherhood: you can play on the playground again. The weather here is simply brilliant, +17 and sun. It feels like a fairy tale! Besides the good weather, I can’t help but note that it is very beautiful here…”

Together with her son Misha

According to Ignatova, during breaks between her skates she is showing Kazakhstan to her son Misha. However, the skater joked that it is more the other way around: it is her son who is showing the city to her. Without him, the athlete admitted, she would be nervously pacing around her room waiting for her performance.

Tournament in memory of Denis Ten

The athlete came to Almaty for the international tournament in memory of Denis Ten. After the short program, Trusova was in first place with a score of 77.39 points. Second was South Korean figure skater Kim Yu-jae with 75.99 points, while third place went to Kazakhstan’s representative Sofya Samodelkina, who scored 69.45 points.

The latter commented on Trusova’s arrival in Almaty, with whom she has been friends since the days when they competed for the Russian national team. Now the two represent different countries, but they met at the tournament.

“Sasha and I finally met and were able to talk properly. The last time we performed together was, I think, in 2023, and before that we saw each other at the Russian Championship in 2021. I think we will still have time to chat, reminisce about something and, maybe, come up with something new,” Samodelkina said.

About the ‘Russian Rocket’

Alexandra Trusova is known by the nickname ‘Russian Rocket’. She won silver at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing and became famous for her technically difficult programs and numerous world records. The skater now competes under her husband’s surname – Ignatova.

Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle wrote that Kazakh figure skater Sofya Samodelkina shared her emotions after her first skate at the Denis Ten Memorial in Almaty.
