Kazakhstani tennis player Alexander Shevchenko (100) won two matches in one day to reach the semifinals of the ATP-250 Swiss Open Gstaad-2026. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

First, Alexander the Second finished the match against Swiss Dominic Stricker (360) in two sets 7:6 (7:5), 6:2, which had been interrupted the day before due to rain. Then, with a similar score, he avenged Alexander the First in the quarterfinals against Frenchman Quentin Halys (90) – 7:6 (7:5), 6:3. The match lasted 1 hour 37 minutes. Although he lost in aces (4:7), Shevchenko was better in break points (1:0) and total points won (75:64).

The Frenchman earlier today won the match started the day before against Alexander Bublik (11) – 6:7 (4:7), 6:4, 7:6 (7:5). Thus, Kazakhstan's top-ranked player failed to defend his title from last year in Gstaad. However, the trophy could go to another Kazakhstani player. Shevchenko's opponent in the semifinals will be determined later.
