Kazakhstan's top tennis player Alexander Bublik (11) defeated French qualifier Kyrian Jacquet (163) 6:3, 6:4, 7:6 (7:5) in the second round of the third Grand Slam tournament of the year. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

It was Jacquet who prevented Kazakhstani Timofey Skatov (178) from entering the main draw in the decisive qualifying round – 7:6 (7:5), 6:4, 6:4. Therefore, Bublik played today for himself and for that guy.

Taking a 4-0 lead with two breaks in the first set, Alexander slightly loosened his grip. As a result, Skatov's tormentor avoided a bagel, but the set in 28 minutes remained with the Kazakh – 6:3.

In the second set, the Kazakh responded to the Frenchman's break with two – 6:4 in 34 minutes. In the third set, the opponents, confidently holding their serves, reached a tiebreak. Bublik led 3-0, but Jacquet caught up – 3-3. However, the finish remained with our tennis player, stopping the match time at 1 hour 49 minutes – 6:3, 6:4, 7:6 (7:5).

In the third round, Bublik will play either American Frances Tiafoe (19) or Briton Jan Choinski (100).

Today at Wimbledon, Elena Rybakina confidently defeated American Katie McNally in two sets – 6:1, 6:2. Earlier, a Kazakh derby took place. Anna Danilina, paired with Serbian Aleksandra Krunic, defeated Yulia Putintseva and Canadian Leylah Fernandez in three sets. Andrey Golubev and Aleksandr Nedovyesov will start in doubles tomorrow, and Danilina also entered the mixed doubles.

The Wimbledon Championships 2026 are taking place in London from June 29 to July 12. It is the third Grand Slam tournament of the season and the only one on grass.

The prize fund is £64.2 million. Champions and finalists in singles will receive £3.6 million and £1.8 million respectively.
