Kazakhstan's top tennis player Alexander Bublik (11) lost to Frenchman Quentin Halys (90) in a first-round match at the ATP-250 Swiss Open Gstaad-2026 that lasted two days due to a downpour. The final score was 7:6 (7:4), 4:6, 6:7 (5:7). This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

On the previous day, umpires stopped the match in the third set with the score 6:5 15:0 in favor of the Kazakh, the defending champion of Gstaad. After play resumed, Halys won a game and forced a decisive tiebreak. The 13th game did not go well for the Kazakh. The Frenchman took a 4-0 lead, Bublik reduced the gap to a minimum at 4-5, but the finish remained with Halys – 7-5.

Thus, Alexander the First failed to defend his title from last year, and Halys will face Alexander the Second in the quarterfinals.

The match between Alexander Shevchenko (100) and Dominic Stricker (360) was also interrupted by rain yesterday. At the time of the stoppage, the Swiss, who received a wild card from the tournament organizers, led with a break at 4-3. However, our tennis player turned the match around and, despite fierce support from the stands for Stricker, won in two sets – 7:6 (7:5), 6:2.
