Kazakh tennis player Alexander Bublik (16) advanced to the third round of the US Open. In the second round of the US Open, he defeated Frenchman Adrian Mannarino (67) – 6:3, 6:1, 6:1. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The match lasted only 1 hour and 20 minutes. Bublik fully controlled the match and looked particularly convincing on his own serve. The Kazakhstani hit 16 aces with three double faults, while Mannarino served only one ace.

Bublik landed 73% of first serves and won 41 of 45 points on his first serve – 91%. Mannarino converted only 53% of such points.

The Kazakhstani also had a significant advantage on return. Bublik won 32 of 64 points on his opponent's serve and converted six of 14 break points. Mannarino earned only one break point during the entire match and failed to use it. The overall ratio of points won was 82:44 in favor of the Kazakhstani.

In the third round, Bublik will face the winner of the match between American Tommy Paul and Croatian Dino Prižmić.

The day before, Elena Rybakina and Yulia Putintseva also advanced to the second round of the US Open 2026. Rybakina confidently defeated 17-year-old Teya Frodin, while Putintseva made a comeback in her match against Belinda Bencic. Alexander Shevchenko ended his run after losing to Dino Prižmić in five sets.

The US Open is an annual Grand Slam tennis tournament played on hard courts. It is the last of the four majors in the calendar year.

For the second consecutive year, the US Open, which was first held in August 1881, starts a week earlier due to the rescheduled mixed doubles tournament. The total prize fund of $108 million is a record for majors.

Since 1978, matches have been held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.

The reigning men's champion is Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (3), who defeated Jannik Sinner in last year's final 6:2, 3:6, 6:1, 6:4. Incidentally, the Italian, world number one, withdrew from the US Open 2026 due to a knee injury.

In women's singles, the 2025 winner was Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka. In the final, she defeated Amanda Anisimova of the USA – 6:3, 7:6 (7:3).
