The festival 'Alakol Alaulary – 2026' was held on the shore of Lake Alakol in the Abai region to mark the opening of the tourist season. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing the press service of the regional akimat.

The event was attended by the akim of the Abai region, Berik Uali, who congratulated residents and tourists on the start of the season and noted the region's tourism potential.

According to him, Alakol has been mentioned in the works of scientists and travelers since ancient times and remains one of the popular holiday destinations for both Kazakhstanis and foreign guests.

The akim announced that concert programs on the shore will be held until August — twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They will feature artists from districts and cities of the region, as well as participants of the 'Abai eli – oner kenishi' competition.

During the festival, folk and pop performers performed, including kui composer Seken Turysbek. The event ended with a festive fireworks display.

It was separately noted that by the start of the season, infrastructure at Alakol had been upgraded: more than 50 sanitary facilities, 35 shower cabins, 110 changing cabins, 100 garbage containers, and 150 waste containers were installed.

For tourist safety, 5,000 meters of fencing were installed along the shore, and 224 video surveillance cameras are operating. Over two years, 10 km of roads have been asphalted.

Construction has also begun on a 72 km power transmission line 'Koktal – Alakol', which is expected to solve the problem of electricity shortage on the shore.
