Two jet skis collided on Lake Alakol, killing one person and injuring another. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The incident occurred on July 17. The Alakol District Police Department is currently conducting a pre-trial investigation.
Police reminded that according to the Rules for the Use of Small Vessels and Mooring Structures, approved by Order No. 354 of the Ministry of Investment and Development dated March 27, 2015, it is prohibited to operate small vessels not equipped with navigation lights during dark hours.
"Since the start of the swimming season, 108 administrative protocols have been drawn up for violating safety rules on water bodies and the procedure for operating small vessels," the regional police department said.
The Emergency Situations Department of Zhetysu Region urges owners and users of small vessels to strictly observe water safety rules and refrain from operating vessels during prohibited periods.
