On August 23, unfavorable meteorological conditions (NMU) are expected in Aktobe and Atyrau. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kazhydromet.

According to weather forecasters, NMU are predicted in Aktobe during the day, and at night in Atyrau.

As experts explain, unfavorable weather conditions occur when calm, weak wind, fog, and temperature inversion combine. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to deterioration of air quality.

Forecasters warn that during such periods the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.

The level of air pollution is influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity, and air temperature.

Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near highways and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.

People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as allergy sufferers, are recommended to have necessary medications with them. Experts advise limiting physical activity outdoors and, if possible, moving classes indoors.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that for August 23, Kazhydromet issued storm warnings in Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, and 16 regions of Kazakhstan. Heavy rains, thunderstorms, hail, squally wind, fog, dust storms, and heat are expected in different regions.

Factors affecting air quality

The level of air pollution is influenced by several factors: wind speed, precipitation, humidity, and air temperature. Their combination determines the dispersion of pollutants.
