The World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships have concluded in Germany. On the final competition day, 16-year-old Kazakh athlete Akmaral Yerekesheva took fifth place in the clubs exercise and also finished eighth in the ribbon final. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Clubs Final
In the clubs final, Yerekesheva scored 29.400 points. The world champion was Bulgarian Stiliana Nikolova with 30.150 points. Silver went to Ukrainian Taisiia Onofriichuk – 30.050. Bronze was awarded to Russian Maria Borisova, competing under a neutral flag, who also scored 30.050.
Ribbon Final
Later, Yerekesheva competed in the ribbon final. Our gymnast scored 27.350 points and closed out the top eight.
Gold in this discipline was won by German Daria Varfolomeev – 30.500 points. Second was Nikolova – 30.450, third place went to Borisova with 29.900 points.
First World Championships
For Yerekesheva, the World Championships in Frankfurt was her first at the senior level. The Kazakh managed to reach three finals – individual all-around, clubs, and ribbon. In the all-around final, she placed sixth.
About the Championships
The World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships took place in Frankfurt (Germany) from August 12 to 16 with athletes from 78 countries. A total of nine medal sets were contested. The composition of the Kazakhstan national team is here.
At the Asian Championships held in May in Bishkek, the Kazakhstan team won five silver and four bronze medals.
