Prahlod Thakur's wife Sarlaben and two-year-old granddaughter Aadhya were killed when an Air India plane crashed into a medical college in Ahmedabad last year. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing BBC News.
They were in the BJ Medical College hostel complex, less than 2km from Ahmedabad airport. The plane had 241 passengers; 19 were killed on the ground. Investigators are expected to release a report soon.
A year on, the hostel still stands with its upper floors ripped open. Students pass it daily. Thakur found his wife and granddaughter in a hospital mortuary. He says they no longer look at the sky.
Students Arman Khan Pathan and Aditya Dayal were in the mess during the crash. Pathan was trapped under a table and smashed a window to escape. Dayal helped carry him out. They recall the smell of charred bodies that still returns.
