The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population is considering ways to professionally adapt and assist in the employment of citizens completing military service. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Today in Kazakhstan, 148,700 citizens receive pensions for long service. The ministry, together with interested state bodies and public organizations, is discussing ways to support the employment of this category of citizens.
The proposed approach envisages preliminary preparation of servicemen for the civilian labor market, rather than after the end of service. For this purpose, approximately six months before dismissal, the citizen's professional experience and competencies are assessed, and his opportunities in the labor market are determined.
Then an individual plan for professional adaptation is developed, and if necessary, the opportunity for retraining and training, as well as career and psychological support, is provided. In addition, citizens are assisted in job searching and employment.
First, it is proposed to test this approach in a pilot mode in Astana. Based on the results, the possibility of implementing it in other regions will be considered.
"It is important for us to create the necessary conditions so that the professional experience and competencies of citizens completing their service are in demand in the labor market. This approach allows us to determine in advance the possible directions of a person's future work and, if necessary, provide appropriate support for his adaptation to civilian life," said Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Askarbek Yertayev at a meeting with representatives of the "Community after Military Integration" foundation.
During the meeting, foundation representatives also presented the results of the ongoing professional integration program. Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Daulet Akhmetov shared his experience. After completing military service in 2014, he underwent professional training under the foundation's program and then found a job.
"As part of the program, I underwent training with the participation of a coach, professional consultant and psychologist. I was also assisted in finding a job. Now I work as a chief specialist in the Department of Mobilization Training, Territorial and Civil Defense of Astana," he said.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to continue interaction and develop a memorandum of cooperation. It should be noted that in Kazakhstan, military personnel retire between the ages of 45 and 63, depending on their position, military rank and service conditions.
