Kazakhstani boxer Ali Akhmedov won the main fight of the professional boxing evening in Almaty, becoming the interim world champion in light heavyweight according to the IBO version. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Akhmedov faced South African representative Asemahle Wellem. The fight, scheduled for 12 rounds, ended early. The Kazakhstani boxer won by technical knockout in the third round.
During the bout, Akhmedov's dominance was evident. In the second round, the referee counted two knockdowns for Wellem, and in the third round, another knockdown was recorded. After that, the referee stopped the fight and awarded the victory to the Kazakhstani boxer.
Thus, Ali Akhmedov achieved his 26th victory in his professional career and won the IBO interim world champion belt. Asemahle Wellem suffered his third defeat in the professional ring.
It is worth noting that Akhmedov previously entered the ring in December last year and defeated Ghanaian Delali Miledzi by unanimous decision of the judges.
