Thousands of women have been prosecuted for illegally receiving payments from the State Social Insurance Fund. This was announced by Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection Victoria Shegai. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Currently, 38 criminal cases have been initiated regarding illegal receipt of social benefits from the fund. Over 1,000 women have been held liable in all cases. According to preliminary data, the total amount of damage is 3 billion tenge, Shegai said at today's session of the Mazhilis.

To date, court verdicts have been handed down in 9 criminal cases. As a result, the organizers of the illegal schemes were convicted.

It should be noted that the State Social Insurance Fund provides several types of payments, including maternity and childbirth benefits. Within the framework of illegal schemes, facts of fictitious employment of women with subsequent illegal receipt of social benefits after childbirth were revealed.

According to the Vice Minister, control has been strengthened to prevent illegal payments. Work is underway to eliminate shortcomings in the system of the State Social Insurance Fund. Citizens involved in illegal schemes will be held accountable in accordance with the law.
