In the Turkistan region, the first batch of tomatoes grown at the Ecoculture-Eurasia greenhouse complex was exported. However, the facility is not yet fully operational. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

How the project started

Exactly seven years ago, a contract was signed between the akimat of the Turkistan region, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, and the Russian agroholding "ECO-Culture". At that time, a land plot was allocated in the Keles district, and permission was given for connection to power lines, gas, and water supply.

Greenhouse area

The total area of the greenhouse is planned to be 500 hectares. However, currently, priority is given to commissioning the first stage of construction – 51 hectares.

"Further expansion of the greenhouse directly depends on engineering infrastructure. After resolving the issue of gas supply for additional areas of the facility, it will be possible to move to the next stage of project development," say ECO-Culture specialists.

How much did the project cost increase

Initially, the project cost was 42 billion tenge. However, when clarifying the estimate, the total amount of financing for this facility increased to 64.9 billion tenge. Of this, 50.8 billion tenge will be provided by the Development Bank of Kazakhstan.

Full launch timeline

Sputnik Kazakhstan found out where the world's largest greenhouse is built and, most importantly, when the facility will be put into operation. The full launch of the project depends on the readiness of engineering infrastructure, in particular, the resolution of the gas supply issue. Currently, the first stage of 51 hectares has been commissioned, and work on expanding the remaining areas continues.
